Nestled on a bed of botanical gardens jutting out of the Varenna coast, this stunning and colorful property is a pinnacle of divine charm
The magnificent complex of buildings and gardens, created and built between 1400 and 1800, today represents a perfect and harmonious combination of ancient and modern functionality, made possible by a careful restoration which allows for the operation of a boutique hotel. With 29 rooms and luxury suites, the property can be rented exclusively with three terraces and three ballrooms, providing indoor and outdoor event solutions. In combination with a sister hotel linked by the botanical gardens, this venue is also ideal for hosting wedding parties with guests staying in one of the two hotels.
The people’s treasure
Originally part of the Serponti family’s heritage, the structure subsequently passed into the hands of various prestigious personalities. In 1980 it was purchased by the inhabitants of Varenna, through a public and voluntary subscription to be destined for public use. Currently owned by the Municipality of Varenna, it is now used as a renowned hotel and municipal seat for civil weddings.
Protected botanical gardens
The luscious botanical garden of Villa Cipressi, open to the public and included in the Grandi Giardini Italiani circuit, is an architectural masterpiece characterized by stairways and terraces sloping down to the lake. There are numerous plant species present, including the American agave, which spontaneously blooms here: araucaria, strawberry trees, myrtle, tamarisk, and cypress.
